gy6 valve
adjustment
Chinese engines are prone to
closing their valve
clearances for the first few
1000's km. The tendency
should be for them to open
up with mileage. This is due
to "valve seat recession",
where the alloy in the head,
being a bit soft, lets the
valve seat sink in closing
the valve clearance.If this
is left unchecked, first the
cold starting and idle
suffers, then performance
drops and soon the valve
seats and/or burn out. This
is what kills lots of
Chinese bike engines.
